Paraffin is primarily composed of solid alkanes and is tasteless. It is a white or light yellow translucent solid. Due to its high oil content, it is mainly used in the production of matches, fiberboard, canvas, etc. When polyolefin additives are added to paraffin, its melting point increases, as does its adhesion and flexibility. It is widely used in moisture-proof and waterproof wrapping paper, cardboard, surface coatings for certain textiles, and candle production.
